On today’s special segment, we have Jill chase of capital G, Jill, what is the best question an LP has asked you? Oh, well,
0:44
we’re single LP, obviously. So, so we just have alphabet as our LP. But I think I will say the what I’m always love about alphabet as our LP is they are so, like, intellectually curious, as I mentioned. We are very thematic driven, and they love hearing about our like, thesis areas on AI or security or whatever it might be. And so I don’t you know it’s a little bit different just because of our single LP nature, but I think in many ways more fun.

On today’s special segment, we have Eric bodak of Pendo rev cast in 24 and up. Eric, what’s the best question a VC has asked you? I’m

going to put that as a category of questions. So when I’m most impressed by a VC is when they ask questions that are very deep and very thoughtful in the company we’re talking about. So if I had a VC, you know, that was chatting with us about Pendo, if they’re asking us a question about like, you know, specifically, you know, how the tie in between guides and analytics gave us an advantage against our competition? I was like, oh, that’s an interesting, thoughtful question that you’ve thought about that in detail, right? Or, you know, or maybe even a layer, you know, deeper than that, you know, to a VC that really understands the space, really understands where the opportunity is and and can participate in kind of the visionary exercise of how what you’re doing can change your little piece of the world. Those are the great questions you can get when they’re probing in that direction. Those are, those are the ones that I like, you know, and those are the ones that come from, from VCs you want to work with.

Series A round, I remember preparing with Gary before the full partner pitch Gary. He gave me a heads up. He goes, All right, the partners are going to here’s what they’re concerned about. A lot of, lot of SaaS companies, they get their first product right, and then they can’t land a second or a third product line. And so when you come into pitch, that’s going to be the question you’re going to get. And I want you to be really, really well prepared for what the second and third acts of flow cast are going to be. And so that question of, what are your second and third acts? I think that’s really important, because it gets you thinking longer term about it. And it is, at the end of the day, how you build a big company? It’s very hard to do it with one single product. There aren’t many massive SaaS companies that have not landed second, third, fourth product lines out there. And so getting the wheels spinning early on was really important. I’ve never I still think about that. Obviously, to this day, it’s we are maniacally trying to nail the second, third, fourth, fifth, product act, because that’s what you got to do to become a big business. So I thought that was a stellar question, not just for their investment decision, but also is something that has driven me and helped me keep my eye on the price.
